The other day I was getting my baby to sleep. I asked Cindy what song I should sing and so she turns to me and tells me to sing the "Baby Lion" song. I don't know any songs about baby lions...so I asked her what the "Baby Lion" song sounds like. She responded by singing "What ya' gonna be?"
Then it dawned on me, she was talking about the Christmas song about Christ that Donny Osmond sings: "Baby, What You Goin' To Be?". The song starts out like this: Baby, Lying in a manger, Slumbering so sweetly, What ya gonna be? But Cindy must hear: Baby, lion in a manger, which makes the song much less about our Savior and more about the odd sleep habits of lions :)

Captain Literal
My 3 year old takes everything very literally which can be pretty funny. Last week when we were headed out she asked what we were going to do about dinner. I told her we would probably pick something up on the road. She thought about this for a few minutes and then replied...we can't eat dinner on the road we will get hit by a car!
Then that night we were playing music and she asked the name of a song...which happened to be No one Like You. She got very sad and then asked: Why does nobody like me?

It's a Bug Life
We have been into bugs here at our house lately and my kids have said the cutest things: Cyrus rolled himself up in a blanket and proudly proclaimed that he was "as snug as a bug in a chrysalis" Cindy woke up the other day and told her dad that she had "ladybugs" in her eyes"

Consonant Clusters
This Sunday we were deciding whether to have oatmeal or cereal for breakfast. Cyrus wanted oatmeal so that was the plan, but then Cindy piped up and told me that she wanted cereal because "Crap-n Crunch" is her favorite. Not only can my little girl say her /r/ sound at three but she can also use it in (completely incorrect) consonant clusters.

Too Much Candy
Preface, my kids have all had runny noses and coughs for like a week, pretty much every kid I have seen this month has had a runny nose and a cough.
So, last Sunday was Easter and my kids go to eat candy, right?
Last Sunday was also the birthday party for my little girl, so my kids got to eat cake, right?
After his first piece Cyrus asked for another slice and I told him no, he had already had enough sugar for the day and I didn't want him to get sick. To which he replied..."but Mom, I'm already sick!"

Police Officers
This morning as we were shopping Cindy asked me about my keys:
Me: I have keys to help me drive our car
Cindy: to lock the car so the bad guys /daiz/ can't /tant/ get us!
Me: Do you know who can help us if bad guys come? The police, that is their job, they help keep us safe.
Cindy: yes they would come /t^m/ with their "mee-mow"s and "mee-mow" the bad guys /daiz/ with their "mee-mow" things /tingz/.
At our house sirens usually say "ee-oo" but I guess Cindy has pegged their sound with "mee-mow" and apparently sirens can be deadly to bad guys.
Then later on today she told me that she and Chandel are beautiful, and I am gorgeous. Well, thanks little girl!

Just Bummin' Around
I just called Cindy down for dinner (she was upstairs playing) and she came down the stairs on her bum, sliding from stair to stair. Each time she landed she would say "bum". It sounded like this: "bum, bum, bum..." then she tells me "here I am mother, I am just bummin' down the stairs!"
Then I asked Cyrus "Where did you put the scissors, hun?" and he quickly replied back "I'm not your hun!" He then elaborated, "I am your boy, Daddy is your hun".

Preschool friends
Cyrus has made a couple of friends in his preschool class this year. Most are friends he made in preschool last year, but there is one girl who is new, for Halloween she gave out little bags of candy with a tag on them and I once found that he was sleeping with Chloe's tag under his pillow. Then when he came home from preschool last week he had a picture she had drawn for him in his backpack. He found Cindy Kay's Princess Sophia coloring book and colored this Chloe a special princess picture, because "she likes princesses". He took it to her today.

Christmas Trees
Yesterday night we took down the Christmas tree once the kids were in bed, this morning when Cindy Kay noticed the tree was gone she told me that "the Grinch took our Christmas tree" and that he had taken it "back to his workshop" and then he would "bring it back to our house". She loves loves loves that story!
