C3 at Christmas
C3 can really enjoy Christmas this year, she particularly loves Rudalph the Red Nosed Reindeer and How the Grinch Stole Christmas. C3 runs to the Abominable Snowmonster on our Christmas tree and says "Monster! Don't Eat Olaf!" (Which is what she calls Rudolph). She calls the Grinch the "Binch" and loves wearing her "Binch shirt".

The way we do cold cereal
C2 was enjoying a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios last week and then turned to her Dad and asked if she could have another bowl..."Stoned Up Please?". What? "Can I have my next bowl stoned up?" She meant that she wanted the cereal sans the milk. No, I have not been slipping something extra into our second bowls of cereal!

Golden Nuggets from C1
Every morning my family recites a special scripture from our weekly family home evening lessons. One day C1 told me he had a new "scripture" for us to quote. He said "Jesus gave us his life so we should give him our love." It was very sweet and we talked about what a very good quote that was to live by.
Then this morning C1 told me while we were eating breakfast that "Life is like a puzzle. And when you make a mistake that is like putting a piece in the wrong place. But you can always repent and take that piece out and try again.". Then we talked about his idea and how when you are putting together a puzzle you always make a few mistakes but that doesn't mean the puzzle is ruined, you just try again, that is part of the fun of the puzzle!

There's a million things I haven't done..but just you wait!
So tonight Dad and I were eating dinner (the kids had all already finished and we were nearly done as well). I had big news to share but we had kept getting off topic. So finally we get back to my big news and I say "Guess What? Hamilton is coming to Utah in 2017!". Then C2 responds..."But he's DEAD!". She had overheard us on her way riding her stick pony down the stairs from the playroom. It was funny.

My best little helper
For a long time C2 has been really into "helping" mom out around the house and yard. We watched the movie "Enchanted" yesterday and now her helping has moved to a new level of cuteness. Yesterday before she helped me sweep up a big mess of cereal that C3 had poured out she started singing the happy working song and saying "Ah Ah Ah" to call to her imaginary animal friends so they could help out too.
The Discovery Kids Effect
So C1 got a rocking gift from his grandma last week: a huge stack of Discovery Kids magazines that they were cleaning out of a 6th grade classroom! He has been in heaven. It is funny to hear the things that he takes away from exploring these magazines. Yesterday on the way to school we were listening to the song "The Farmer in the Dell" and at the end he says "The cheese could take matter and then matter could take an atom!" Which was then followed by a lengthy discussion about why atoms are the smallest units of matter...and I honestly wasn't sure about how to count electrons and other particles...

My kids and the truth
So this evening Daddy noticed that the kid's bathroom mirror had a huge watermark all over it. Like someone splashed as high as they could go and then rubbed soap all over the bottom part. Neither child wanted to fess-up so after a quick talk on telling the truth here is what we got...
C1: I was brushing my teeth and the water hit my toothbrush and slipped out of my hand and got on the mirror.
Plausible...but it is hard to imagine a 6 foot water splash from a toothbrush.
C2: Maybe someone was smoking in here?
Ummmm....maybe not...
After that Dad and I both cracked up and let it go. Tomorrow we will clean the mess up and try again.
